When Craig came out as gay to his Exclusive Brethren family, he was effectively banished from the community.

Sue, his family will always be a part of it because they chose a corrupt organisation over their son. money doesn't grow on trees as they say, unless the brethren have a forest we don't know about.

Deana, it may be your opinion but that does mean to say it is right and should not be challenged. I am a gay man who was brought up in a religious environment. The only choice I made on being gay was to accept it and be happy or continue to live a lie to keep others happy. Also your comments were typically judgemental and frankly unChristian based on the upbringing I had.

First of all i would like to say...GO Hard Craig, Congratulations. and also who is anyone to judge him, out of all those liars he had the courage to say what he wanted to clear his own conscience, being gay myself i know what it is like to walk around wandering whats gunna happen when i tell my family, but when i did i had never been hapier when they excepted it. also .DEANA. if your this so called brethrens wife get off the computer thats againts your culture, or are you an exile.
It is not a choice for a brethren from birth, they are minipulated to think your way is the only right way yet you's are one of the most racist religeons known to man kind.
I come from a town up north that had brethren in it and yes they clearly state no coloured people by the abuse when you walk past.
know no religeon is perfect but when you judge againts others which you were clearly preached not to thats going againts your own religeon youselfs and making yous look like a cult.

Recently I have been fired from my 5 year tenure as an "outsider" teacher for a Brethren group in the USA. They turned on me viciously and the leader, a Taylor, lied terribly about my intentions and character. I had students, 2 brothers who are probably gay. I have always felt great compassion for them, and now that I have learned of your story, even more so. I don t know how I could have been so foolish to think that these people were good and kind Christians. I now know better! So nice that you are with your grandpa. You are in a better place. God bless us, everyone (not just those who think they are "choosen".) I now know the Brethren to be false and unjust. God will deal with them appropriately on the Day of Reckoning.Thank you for the story exposing them.

Good on you!! Sorry????? It's his choice to be gay??? Did you listen to what he was saying? If it was his choice, I'm pretty sure he would've changed his mind so he could be with his family and wouldn't of had to take pills to try suppress it. Although it is hard to get out of a religious group, you still can so comparing it to someone turning gay from straight is completely irrelevant and sad. It's unfair for a straight person to judge a gay person and tell them to choose between their family or being gay.

Speaking from someone who is the wife of a brethren, I would just like to say I hope you find happieness, but.........
I think it's horrible that you have exposed your family with public photo's, you can live your life the way you want without making it hard on them......it is their choice to be in fellowship just as it is your choice to be gay, leave them out of it.
