That is appalling that CYFS and the Whangarei Police haven't done anything about this critical situation. This would be devastating to any child regardless of how "minor" the situation would be. These two young boys have taken away the rights of 12 young girls and their lives will never be the same in anything that is their future again.
CYFS and Whangarei Police has let the people of Whangarei and especially the families of these young innocent girls down by not dealing with the situation straight away. CYFS and Police seem to worry about cases that are more "minor" than 12 young girls being sexually abused and their predators not being prosecuted for it.
Why should anyone have faith in CYFS and the Police, when something of this magnitude goes un-investigated???

I am so angry after watching the segment tonight about the sexual abuse
scandal in Whangarei.
The level of dismissal by CYPS and the Police is so repugnant to me.
It doesn't matter how 'minor' the incidents are considered to be by some
social worker or police officer, the experience will stay with that
child for life and colour how they approach their future relationships
and their attitude towards sex.
Heads should roll, starting with the social worker at CYPS and their
supervisor who they should have been running their interventions by, and
then the head of the Police in Whangarei for allowing their staff to not
take any action in investigating the allegations. That phone call to
Whangarei Police was pathetic to say the least, and completely
unacceptable in this day and age.
Have these boys got away with their actions by the lack of action by
CYPS and the Police? What have they learned? We can get away with
sexually abusing children. Now what can we get away with?
Young people need to learn that there are serious consequences as a
result of their actions. These young men need to know that there are
very serious consequences for their very devasting actions towards these
young girls.
