Frequently Asked Questions
TV3 has gone widescreen, how do I change the settings on Sky? As of 11 April 2007, viewers who are watching TV3 through their Sky satellite set top box have been receiving a 16:9 (widescreen) signal.
On the Sky set top box set-up menu, viewers who are watching our programmes on standard 4:3 television sets can select from two different options - 4:3 letterbox and 4:3 centre cut. ...We recommend that viewers select the centre cut option.
While most programming will be screened in full 16:9 format, some of the programming we screen (particularly that of which was purchased prior to the announcement of us going to the new format) is not available in widescreen. Therefore viewers with a widescreen television will at times notice black bars on the left and right of the screen. This will become less and less an issue as the old format is phased out and new orders replace the old.
The widescreen format will also be available via other digital sources - such as
FreeView (commencing May 2).
