David Harewood Biography

British actor David Harewood has enjoyed success on stage, television and in film.

Harewood has appeared in the movies Separate Lies, The Merchant of Venice, and Blood Diamond.

A graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Harewood has been a fixture on the London stage for many years, earning praise for his work in such plays as Othello. At the National Theatre he starred in Welcome To Thebes, Henry IV Parts I and II and His Dark Materials. Harewood received universal acclaim for his portrayal of Martin Luther King, Jr. the play The Mountaintop.

On British television, Harewood was a regular on such series as The Vice, Robin Hood and Babyfather. He was also seen as Mandela in the television movie Mrs. Mandela, and the Christmas special Treasure Island. Harewood also guest stars in a number of series including Doctor Who, Strikeback and Criminal Justice.
