Anthony Van Assche grew up in Belgium and finished his early training there before coming to Australia and working with Indigenous communities in Darwin. Now 37, he is enjoying the pace of work at St Vincent’s. He finds the work constantly challenging and finds St. Vincent’s to be a place where he can learn and grow as a physician. He loves the craziness of the weekend shifts with the steady stream of alcohol-fuelled cases coming in, which makes the triage a very colourful place.
I’ve worked in different hospitals around the country and around Europe and I think it’s just an amazing place. I’m having a ball.
