‘The English Expat’
UK- born Jamie first became interested in medicine when he was just 16 years old, and his high school Biology teacher set him up with a stint in an Emergency Department as part of his work experience. Although chaotic, the experience was incredibly exciting and it was that point Jamie realised he wanted to be a doctor. His passion led him to study medicine in both Edinburgh and Scotland. Initially specialising in surgery, he fell into emergency medicine when he moved to Australia. Now, Jamie loves that he works in a role which allows him to apply lots of skills every day, and particularly enjoys the great characters he works alongside at St Vincent’s. With a new two month old baby boy, Jamie has his hands full doing the night shift both at home and at work. But this dedicated doctor doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
There’s quite a good atmosphere at work. Lots of flamboyant characters amongst the staff and the patients.
