Stand up comedian, social commentator, writer, director and actor; Jeremy Elwood’s diverse performances combine biting social commentary with original music and dynamic delivery in a mix that has earned him critical acclaim around the world.
Jeremy has headlined comedy clubs in NZ, Australia, the UK, Singapore and Canada, and performed seasons at the NZ International Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Palandri Comedy Festival and Glasgow Comedy Festival. He has appeared on stage at the Comedy Store in London, Los Angeles, and Sydney as well as Jongluers and Yuk Yuks venues in the UK and Canada.
In 2007, he became first NZ act to record two sets for US cable television stand up show The World Stands Up, and the first NZ Featured Comedian on myspace.com.
Back at home, he has performed several sell-out solo shows at Festivals nationwide, most recently 2008’s 12 Steps. As part of the 2009 NZ International Comedy Festival he directed Andy Clay’s Book Of Love, and was named “Spirit Of The Festival” at the Festival Awards. He has been nominated as Best Male Comedian at the NZ Comedy Awards every year since their inception in 2000, winning on two occasions, as well as several wins in the categories of Best MC and Gag of The Year. He is currently Vice President of the NZ Comedy Guild, and a regular contributor to Radio NZ National’s The Panel.
