Julia is the founder of award winning dessert business, Dollop Puddings, a company
founded on the art of baking. She began the business just three years ago with a friend,
on her return from Europe.
Julia Crownshaw graduated from Otago University with an honours degree in food
science. She has a background in product development, having worked for Tip Top New
Zealand, and with a high-end chocolate company in the UK.
“I am excited to be returning to judge on Chelsea New Zealand’s Hottest Home Baker
this year, the bakers really have to bring their absolute best to the show. They know what
we are looking for and there are no excuses,” she says.
“I am looking for a true understanding of all the elements of baking, the technical side,
knowing how ingredients will work, tantalising decoration, and flavours that really wow
