“Riverside Café” is located in the beautiful MoutereValley, north of Nelson.
It is owned and operated by members of the Riverside Community, set up by
Pacifists after the Second World War.
Today, 65 people live alongside each other on a 200 hectare
block, supporting themselves through farming, orchards and the café.
The café is open for dinner several nights a week. Julie
prepares several tantalising dishes to add to the menu.
Julie’s visit to “Riverside Café” coincides with Harvest
Festival celebrations. She helps children make bread, gathers fresh produce
from the organic garden and takes part in a pumpkin lantern parade.
