Sergio Torrado
Dancer
Born in
Madrid, Spain, Sergio began his training at the age of seven. He attended the
San Francisco Ballet School before joining San Francisco Ballet as a member of
the Corps de Ballet in 1999. He was promoted to soloist in 2003. He joined Pennsylvania
Ballet in 2007 as a soloist and was promoted to principal the following year.
He joined Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2011.
Sergio
has danced lead roles in classic ballets both in Spain and in the United
States, including Basilio in Don Quixote, Albrecht in Giselle, and
the pas de trois in Swan Lake. His Balanchine works include Sanguinic in
The Four Temperaments, Allegro Brillante, Ballo Della Regina,
Serenade, Emeralds in Jewels, and the Prince and Snow King inThe
Nutcracker. In his first season
with RNZB, Sergio performed the role of Prince Désiré in The Meridian Season of
The Sleeping Beauty.
Sergio appeared along side Natalie Portman in the 2010 film Black Swan.
