English actor, Rupert Friend, has signed on to be a series regular in Season 2 of Homeland. The 30-year-old star will play Peter Quinn, a buttoned down CIA analyst who oversees an upcoming critical operation. Executive producer, Alex Gansa, says
"[Quinn is] an ally of Estes (David Harewood) and will be introduced into Carrie and Saul's life. It's not a potential love interest for Carrie (Claire Danes). He's more of an antagonist, actually."
Rupert Friend made his movie debut in the 2004 film The Libertine but it best known for roles in Pride & Prejudice and The Young Victoria.
F Murray Abraham
Oscar-winning actor, F Muray Abraham, will have a recurring role in the second season of Homeland. The actor will portray Dar Adul, "a brilliant intelligence operative in his 60s-70s" who has previously worked across the world for the Special Activities Division of the CIA.
Abraham has a long list of credits to his name. He took home the 1984 Best Actor Oscar for Amadeaus and has recently appeared in Louie, Blue Bloods and The Good Wife.
British actress, Zuleikha Robinson, joins the Season 2 cast of Homeland to play a Middle Eastern field journalist named Roya Hammad. Robinson’s character is secretly working for terrorist Abu Nazi and crosses paths with Brody when she delivers an ultimatum to the conflicted former marine. Executive producer, Alex Gansa, said
"She's a master manipulator whose cover as a reporter allows her access to people."
Prior to her work on Homeland, 34-year-old Robinson played plane crash survivor, Ilana Verdansky, on Lost and also appeared in Rome and X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen. Her film credits include Hidalgo, The Merchant of Venice and The Namesake
Valerie Cruz joins the cast of Homeland season 2 as Major Joy Mendez. Described as a guest star stint which may become a recurring role, Cruz plays a military intelligence officer who goes with Carrie (Claire Danes) on a sensitive mission in Beirut.
The 35-year-old actress has previously appeared in True Blood, Dexter, Off the Map and Alphas.
The Good Wife actor, Tim Guinee, is also set to appear in the second season of Homeland. The role and episode count are being kept tightly under wraps, but it is widely rumoured that he will fill the role Brody’s chief of staff.
