“I started baking with my Mum when I was old enough to sit on the bench without falling off… and I've been baking ever since!”

Carolyn is a 33-year-old Mum from Auckland’s NorthShore

Instead of sending her to kindy, Carolyn’s Mum taught her how to bake! “I remember helping her make afghans and chocolate cake while my brothers and sister were at school - I was always delighted that I had the bowls to lick without having to share! I bake in the exact same way with my one-year-old now”

Describes herself as “fun, possibly slightly mad and extremely competitive in everything I do… I can bake the pants off everyone I know!”

Says her friends are always over the moon when she bakes. She recently made a wedding cake for a friend that’s still receiving rave reviews

She really knows her stuff in the kitchen, including the differences between all of the different types of pastry… from Danish to short and sweet, and whether to leaven them with baking powder or yeast

Signature Dish: Apple and Custard Danish Pastries, with homemade pastry of course
