Episode 25- Illya Peters wins $250
Screened 21-November-2007
After turning down an offer of $12,000 last week, carry-over contestant Illya Peters has had to wait all week for the banker’s fourth offer. Illya wants to buy his own truck but will the banker share his entrepreneurial spirit?
Although Illya has already taken out the $200,000, $50,000 and the Suzuki SX4 in episode 15, he’s determined to give the banker a run for his money.
With the $100,000 still on the board, Illya turns down the banker’s fourth offer of $9780 and plays on. After two great rounds the banker’s offers climb to almost $19,000. Illya proves to be a real gambler when he turns it down and decides to open another case.
With the $100,000 and $20,000 still in play it’s a huge gamble but it pays off. Illya opens the $20,000 and the banker’s eighth offer comes in at $23,990.
With just three cases left to open, Illya faces his biggest decision yet: take the deal at $23,990 or play on?
With just the $100,000, $250 and $100 on the board, Illya plays on again! If the $100,000 is in his own case then the next offer is likely to be around $45,000. If it’s not in his case though, Illya is gambling almost $24,000 on a 50-50 bet.
It’s a huge gamble but unfortunately for Illya it doesn’t pay off! Illya opens the $100,000 case and with just $250 and $100 on the board, the banker’s offer plummets to $165.
Illya says ‘No deal’ and decides to opens his own case. He has the $250.
In the end Illya beat the banker’s final offer of $165 but he also gambled and lost almost $24,000.
