Episode 25- Illya Peters wins $250
Screened 21-November-2007
This week’s second contestant is Penny Kuiti - a Police Officer from Levin. Penny is also a solo mother and wants to take her 7-year-old daughter to the Gold Coast theme-parks.
Cheering Penny from the couch is her daughter Maia, her mother Ngawini, sister Lisa and mate Megan. Can the girls from Levin beat the banker and take home the cash?
Penny Kuiti starts well and gets an opening offer from the banker of $10,800. Round 2 isn’t so good though, when Penny opens the $200,000 and the Suzuki SX4.
After turning down the banker’s second offer of $2700, Penny battles on into round 4. Unfortunately the 18th case Penny opens is the $100,000. With the $50,000 still on the board, the banker offers her a respectable $5000 - but it’s not enough and Penny turns it down. Penny turns down his next offer of $12,314 as well.
With just five cases left to open - and with the $50,000 still on the board - the banker’s sixth offer is too good to pass up. Penny takes the deal at $15,000.
But did Penny Kuiti make a good deal? Yes and no. In a Deal or No Deal first, it’s a draw. Penny’s case had $15,000 in it as well.
