Carly Flynn
Carly Flynn (nee Kirkwood) was born in Taupo and lived as a teenager in Rarotonga.She
holds a Bachelor of MediArts majoring in journalism from Waikato Polytech (now
WINTEC) and a Diploma in Journalism from the Journalists Training Organisation.
Carly joined TV3
in 2003 as a reporter for 3 News. She
became the Nightline newsreader in
2005, and held that position until October 2008, when she moved to the opposite
end of the day, as co-anchor for Sunrise.
When Sunrise came to an end
late 2010, Carly worked as a radio announcer for The Breeze. She took time out to have her second child
with cameraman Dave Flynn, who she married in 2006.
Carly says she is excited to be part of the show that fights for Kiwi
consumers’ rights.
“I’ve always been a fan of the
way that Target champions the underdog, and I look forward to showcasing
some of the best and worst examples of Kiwi products and businesses,” she says.
Carly’s work
experience prior to joining MediaWorks includes being a production manager on You’re A Star in Ireland, a producer on Newstalk 106 in Ireland,
and holding the post of news editor at Counties Manukau Radio.
She lists her
interests as travelling, reading, swimming, diving, movies and camping, and one
of her goals is to work in a third world country.
