Heading to Queenstown Ideas

The World's Ultimate Destination for Adventure Lovers
The adventure capital of the world also happens to be one of the most beautiful locations in the world if you ask us! Queenstown is located on the shore of the breath-taking Lake Wakatipu, surrounded by dramatic mountain ranges.

Dining Out
Queenstown has a constant influx of tourists from around the globe, and as such has cultivated a range of world-class eateries showcasing the best of local and ethnic cuisine, often complemented by stunning views and stellar service. For a low-key but nonetheless memorable experience, head to FergBurger on the main strip and challenge yourself to one of their famously gigantic gourmet burgers. Alongside this is their related franchise Fergs Pies, which boasts similarly delicious gourmet pies in a variety of innovative flavours.

Arts & Culture
The Arts & Crafts Market (Saturdays 9am - 4.30pm) contributes to the relaxed vibe found on the lakefront, with free live entertainment and artists from as far as Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill and the West Coast coming together to display their high-quality wares.

Just a short and scenic twenty-minute drive away is charming Arrowtown, where you can learn about the region’s gold-mining history as well as indulge in some fine dining. Arrowtown is also where you’ll find the small but very worthwhile Lakes District Museum & Gallery. Packed full of interesting information, you can try your hand at gold-panning in the Arrow River!

Queenstown is constantly awash with tourists and travellers on a working holiday, and as such is great for a friendly night out, with live music and DJs spinning tunes into the wee hours of the morning on any given night of the week.

For the adventurers, there are more ways to push yourself beyond your comfort zone than anywhere else in the world! Get your heart racing by bungee-jumping, sky-diving, canyon-swinging, jet-boating, white-water rafting, zip-lining, heli-skiing or hang-gliding your way through the region’s magnificent landscape.

For the snow-bunnies, there are four ski fields within easy reach – Cadrona, Coronet, Treble Cone and The Remarkables – and the region enjoys the longest snow season in the Southern hemisphere, running from early June to early October. Internationally renowned for excellent and unique skiing/snowboarding opportunities, these slopes cater to all levels, from learners to advanced.

Leisure-seekers can ensure the fastest they go is on the luge; explore one of the many walking and hiking trails or pamper themselves at one of many luxury spas. CaddyShack City Mini Golf is a fun family-friendly or rainy day option, featuring 18 holes in an impressively crafted miniature world.
