Abigail Boyle joined the RNZB in 2005 and has received widespread critical acclaim for her dancing. Notable mentions include her performance as Mercedes in 2008’s Don Quixote, which the press described as ’seductive hard-edged elegance, coupled with superb comic timing.’

Abigail was lauded for her performances in From Here to There in 2010, and her portrayal of Carmen the same year also received ecstatic reviews. In 2011, the Dominion Post described her performance in Tutus on Tour as ’superb allegro and serene adagio, which covers all there is.’ Abigail’s recent roles include Aurora and the Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, principal roles in Balanchine’s Who Cares? and Myrtha, Queen of the Wilis in Giselle (2012), a performance subsequently captured in film director Toa Fraser’s Giselle (2013) and also reprised during the RNZB’s 2013 China tour. In 2013 she created a memorable role in Javier De Frutos’ The Anatomy of a Passing Cloud, commissioned for the RNZB’s 60th birthday, and made her debut as Odette/Odile in the RNZB’s Swan Lake. 2014 began with critically praised performances of Myrtha at the LA Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and at the Granada Theater, Santa Barbara.
