The BIG night – THE X FACTOR DECIDER – is here! Tonight, either Sally, Altiyan or Andrew will be crowned THE WINNER of The X Factor Australia.

The show opened with a huge bang as the Top 12 opened the Grand Final Decider with an awesome group performance of “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz. But it was just the beginning of a massive night of exclusive and dynamite performances.

Luke Jacobz asked each of the Top Three how they were feeling and inevitably there were plenty of nerves! Then Luke introduced the judges who took their seats at their desk for the final time. There was plenty of mixed emotions too with three of the four judges’ hoping their act would take the crown!

Next, Jaimiroquai returned after last night’s duet with Sally. They got the room pumped with their funky new hit “White Knuckle Ride” from their new album “Rock Dust Light Star”. Jay Kay wowed the crowd with his smooth moves.

The international guest performances continued as James Blunt hit the stage for the second time in 24 hours to give us an exclusive look at his new tune “Stay The Night”. It’s the first single from his new album “Some Kind Of Trouble.”

Then US comedy star Jack Black dropped by to give the Top Three a hilarious pep talk. Then the Top 12 got nostalgic and reunited one last time with their rendition of Joe Cocker’s “A Little Help From My Friends”.

Finally, Luke Jacobs started the results proceedings and announced that three would become two. Australia had voted and the first act chosen to enter the final two was Sally. The second person to enter the top two was Altiyan, which meant that Andrew was out of the competition and Altiyan and Sally were left to battle it out for the major prize! “You’ve been a pleasure to work with, you’re a real gentleman,” Kyle said to Andrew, his final boy in the competition.

Ronan said of Andrew’s exit, “Out of the three he probably lacked a little bit of magic. We see that now because people didn’t vote for him. He’s had great weeks, he’s had some bad weeks but he’s really grown and I wish him the best in whatever he does.”

While Natalie wished Andrew, “Whatever happens, it’s obvious that Andrew’s going to make a phenomenal record and he’s going to have a great career.”

Speaking of great careers, next up, Guy Sebastian treated us to “Who’s That Girl?” the first single from his new album “Twenty Ten”. It was an extra special performance from The X Factor’s resident judge as international rap sensation Eve took to the stage with him.

A string section was suspended precariously in chairs high above our final two as they performed The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition”. It seemed fitting as Sally and Altiyan’s futures hung in the balance!

Then it was time for Aussie legends INXS to show the Top Two what a successful career looks like as they gave their classic hit “New Sensation” a new life with guest vocalist Suze De Marchi. The song is on their new album “Original Sin” which features a number of re-worked hits and guest vocalists.

Before the winner was announced, Altiyan and Sally both performed on The X Factor stage one last time! Sally came out all guns blazing with one of her favourite songs, “Decode”, by Paramore. She delivered a powerful vocal, but was it enough? Then U2’s “Beautiful Day” came from an emotional Altiyan. Would it be a beautiful night for our resident rock star?

Then it was time for the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! And with Sally and Natalie Imbruglia on one side and Altiyan and Ronan on his other side, finally, Luke Jacobz announced that it would indeed be a beautiful night for The X Factor Australia’s 2010 winner, ALTIYAN CHILDS!

Ronan was understandably ecstatic, “I’m incredibly proud. If we go back to the auditions, forgetting the words, getting into the contest. In the first week, in the elimination night there were boos from the audience. The way that he’s grown, the journey that he’s had, his delivery, his belief, his performances, his ability, he just ticks all the boxes. He’s a real star. The world needs to get ready for Altiyan Childs.”

The stylish Natalie was a gracious runner up saying, “Altiyan’s a phenomenal performer, I’m really happy for him. I’m sad for Sally but this is the beginning of a great career for her, too.”

After Altiyan had composed himself he had this to say, “I just want to say, Australia, thanks for stealing my heart away. Ronan, thank you, brother – you know exactly what for. I just want to say to my father WE DID IT!”

Guy’s words of advice to Altiyan were, “Such an important thing is the fans. Remember that they got you here, they voted for you, it’s an amazing thing, but grasp that they believed in you so much to actually put money behind their fingers and vote for you. Be good to your fans, always remember them. You’ll go a long way.”

And Kyle was uncharacteristically thoughtful, “Mate, you are a true star. Sally and Andrew were right up your tail to the end. You deserve to win. What an amazing Top 12, it’s great to see you guys back. Good luck to all of you, it’s been a pleasure,” Kyle said.
