Crashes, smashes and hilarious mud splashes return to 3 when the brand new season of the hit series Wipeout returns. The third season of Wipeout will see the return of hosts John Anderson (ESPN's SportsCenter), John Henson (Talk Soup) and co-host Jill Wagner.
According to Executive Producer Matt Kunitz the secret to the show's comedy is to avoid having contestants fall straight down. "The Big Balls - we never knew they were going to be great," he says. "With them you get an uncontrollable fall. If somebody falls straight into the water, it's not interesting. If somebody falls and ricochets off something, it's funny."
Another shakeup for the season - no helmets, so viewers can better see contestants’ faces. When asked if that means increasing the danger, Kunitz says the softness of the course’s surfaces prevents the sort of injuries a helmet protects against.
"We spend hundreds of thousands on foam. This is like nothing that wouldn't happen in a backyard game of touch football."
To pep up things even further, season three will offer viewers some specially themed episodes.
"Do you think blind dates are tough? Then how about running the course with a blind date?," Kunitz explains about the third season premiere episode which will match male and female strangers to navigate the obstacle course as a team.
