Amber Peebles
Amber Peebles was born in Wellington 1983, and grew up in Howick then Karaka, Auckland. She trained and worked as a makeup artist after leaving school while also studying fashion design In 2003 she won the Miss World NZ title while wearing one of her own designs and went on to compete in Miss World in 2004.
Her first jobs in broadcasting were with The Edge and as a Melbourne Cup correspondent for TV3. Amber hosted MTV New Zealand for four years, interviewing a slew of international music / film stars and was also invited to host Australia's glamorous Red Carpet specials for MTV AU.
Since 2010 Peebles has co-hosted extreme sports show The Red Bull Chronicles for Sky. Amber has written for magazines and founded the popular Fashion / News / Beauty blog thedownlow.co.nz. She currently hosts the MoreFM breakfast show alongside Marc Ellis and Stu Tolan.
Amber is married to broadcaster Brooke Howard-Smith, whom she started dating in 2004.
Kate Rodger
Although born to Kiwi parents, Kate Rodger was born in Fiji and lived there until she was four, before moving home to New Zealand. She grew up in Howick and attended Baradene College before heading down south to study radio at the Christchurch Polytechnic Broadcasting School.
Her first job was with Radio i in Auckland as a producer and announcer. From there she moved to Radio Taranaki as the breakfast news presenter, before coming back to Auckland to host her own show on Classic Hits. She then spent four years with IRN News, as a reporter and breakfast news presenter.
Kate spent eight years living in the UK and returned home in 2003, joining 3News as a reporter, presenter and producer. She later moved into her dream job, 3News Entertainment Reporter and Film3 reviewer, a role which sees her regularly jetting off to premieres, film festivals and junkets all over the world.
In mid-2010 Kate launched her own half hour local film show Reel Late with Kate . She has hosted her own inaugural film awards, and regularly judges film competitions and festivals including the 48Hour Film Festival, Show Me Shorts, and the Documentary Edge Festival.
Gary McCormick
Gary McCormick is a notable New Zealand poet, radio and television personality, debater and raconteur. Gary originated from Titahi Bay and used to be a surfboard manufacturer before embarking on a life of a touring and performing.
McCormick began writing poetry in 1968. He also wrote Performance—A Guide to the Performing Arts in New Zealand for the Department of Internal Affairs in 1976 and is a long-time collaborator and friend of Sam Hunt.
He presented a successful documentary series called Heartland where Gary documented the lives of the locals in small towns across New Zealand. Notable stories included the lovable girl from Wainuiomata, called Chloe Reeves, who became a national sensation overnight, with her tiger slippers and interesting lifestyle. McCormick also featured in advertisements for hardware retailer Mitre 10 during the late 1980s and early 90s. In 1997 he was named New Zealand Entertainer of the Year.
McCormick is currently a radio co-host with Simon Barnett on More FM in Christchurch, and also has a regular slot on TVNZ's Good Morning show.
