The wait is over. The first episode of The X Factor NZ will premiere on Sunday 21st April at 7pm with the second episode screening Monday 22nd April 7:30pm on TV3.

Hosted by Dominic Bowden, with Melanie Blatt, Daniel Bedingfield and Stan Walker Ruby Frost as the four-strong judging panel, The X Factor NZ is the first local version of the global television phenomenon format put on the map by music mogul Simon Cowell.

On Sunday night viewers will get a front row seat as Kiwi contestants gets their one chance to show they have what it takes. Over 6,000 auditioned at 27 locations around the country and now the hopes and dreams of a lucky few rest in the hands of our judges. Contestants are given no choice but to bring their A-game if they want to continue in the competition.

"The level of talent in NZ is incredible," says Stan Walker. "It’s so natural and undiscovered and everyone is really humble, it’s the New Zealand way."

The Sunday premiere episode will see audiences polarized as a brother and sister from Gore are pitted against each other for their place in the competition. Meanwhile the judges are blown away by the special talents of a Kerikeri supermarket worker, and get a surprise visit from superstar and Australian judge, Ronan Keating.

The X Factor NZ is open to singers of aged 14 and up, either solo performers or groups. Contestants who make it
through are split into one of four categories – Boys under 25, Girls under 25, Over 25s and Groups. Each category is
mentored by one of the four judges.

At stake is the much coveted title of the winner of The X Factor NZ, a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand and the chance to drive away in the All-New 2013 Ford Kuga!
