A body is found buried at a construction site, and in the panic caused by its excavation, a piece of concrete topples over, crushing the victim's skull. The victim, who was dressed as a firefighter, was a male stripper... who, oddly, also turns out to have been a high-powered broker. He was killed and then brought to the demolition site of the previous building, where the killer planned for the detonation to hide the body. Suspects include the victim's boss at the brokerage firm, his jealous socialite girlfriend, the friend who got him into stripping, and the jealous fiancée of a woman he slept with at a bachelorette party.
Meanwhile, Booth has an emotional reunion when his mother, Marianne – who he hasn't seen in 24 years – comes to visit. She had fled to escape Booth's abusive father, abandoning Booth, but Booth insists everything is fine, and invites her to stay with him and Brennan. Sweets wonders why Booth never tried to track her down. Marianne announces that she's getting married... and Booth is hurt and upset when he learns that she's spent the last few years helping raise her fiancée's kids from a previous marriage.
