The Strathern
Walking in to the Strathern is like going in to a time
warp. We have wagon wheels and old trumpets, and this is an
improvement! On arrival the golden rule of hospitality is broken –
always greet your guests. I am left at the reception desk with no one
to seat me. Phil the manager clearly still has a lot to learn if he is
to be a manger of any restaurant.
Our
waitress is the lovely Whitney who has been well trained in up selling
and I order the spare ribs, which she has recommended. They come hot,
tender and tasty. The food portions are large which is typical of this
area.
I also experience possibly the best apple crumble I have ever
had – also recommended by Whitney. From what I witness, the food is
looking fresh and the staff are very keen to give full attention to
service.
Nellie the “ghost” watches from
above as we enjoy the new improved Strathern but a fear that it will
need more than watchful spirits to help this old girl survive.
