The 'bad men' - 11/02

After the mysterious S.J.Whitwell does a runner (and they fail to catch her thanks to Jane’s nana driving), the girls decide to search her home office. They find a bunch of confidentiality agreements from Davy Hulme stashed in her filing cabinet. Turns out that the woman’s name is Sonya and actually, she used to work in the accounts department at M&L before being given the boot. Why did she get fired? Did someone find out that she was fudging the figures? Not only that, but it seems like Sonya was actually friends with Rose!

Finally it becomes clear why Jane is so keen on helping Linda find out what’s going on at M&L – her parents lost her savings in Lancaster. She asked her agency for a placement at M&L so she could try to find out what happened.

Jane and Linda meet Sonya to find out what really happened with the payments from Davy Hulme. Sonya says that after Lancaster went bust she felt sorry for all the mum and dad investors who lost everything. Peterson was swanning off to the South of France while these people where struggling to make ends meet!

Sonya, Rose and Ganesh decided to start paying out some of the people who were most hard up for cash. There was money that was ring fenced in trusts - it wasn’t technically Lancaster money but belonged to another company owned by Peterson. Sonya says the whole thing was Rose’s idea! Is she telling the truth? Or are Sonya and Ganesh just trying to cover their involvement with Peterson? It seems weird that Rose didn’t tell Linda about any of this.

Simon tells Jane that the cops are winding down the investigation – they say it was ‘death by misadventure.’ He was acting really strange after the cops came to see him. Is he feeling guilty or just sad? Does he know what really happened? For some reason he feels the need to mention this to Peterson when he comes in for a meeting. Why would Peterson case that Rose’s death has been ruled an accident…..unless he had something to do with it.

Out for a few drinks, Jane and Linda run into a dodgy homeless guy down at the Viaduct. He warns them to be careful of 'bad men' or they might end up in the water. Is this the homeless guy the cops are looking for? Did he see who killed Rose? No chance of finding out now – he bolted into the night!

The Funeral - 04/02

Jane started at Mosely & Loveridge on the day of Rose’s funeral. Talk about an awkward way to start your new job. To make matters worse, Krystle, the resident bitch, seems to have it in for her. There are clearly some complicated office politics going on here.
